Rescue

Cinq-Cinquain is a poem with 5 cinquains (literally taken from French).
Here’s an attempt at Cinq-Cinquain –

‘Malli’
They called her so
Round face, large lifeless eyes,
Painful teenage without a smile,
Eighteen.

Thin limbs,
Fragile fingers,
Hunger and poverty.
‘Is the land barren or my life?’,
Thought she.

Shelter,
Was the dead trees,
She had no home, cattle.
Hunger engulfed her family.
Fought she.

Alone,
She so was not.
Frail hands clutched the belly.
A small life, wanted to come out –
Her child.

She stared
At the clear sky
Prayed for a home, a life,
A future with her child, and a
Rescue.
